was a 10 to
12 mile stretch
of the
upper Genesee River . . .

. . . pounding
its way down
through
a tremendous gorge.

Located in western NY,
the Genesee Gorge
is a wild
and wooly sweep
of high fragile cliffs,
boiling waters,
deep woods
and tall timber.

There were tall trees
that seemed to reach up
and hold the fragile edges
of the gorge in place and
deep crevices to peer through
into the gorge below
