Both these cases are attempts at the same concept.
Arising from my apprenticeship at Barr Cabinet Shop is the memory of a fall afternoon when a load of coal was delivered to the shop.
The evening light was clear - sharp.
The fellow delivering the coal, his face blackened by the coal dust, had the greenest eyes you ever saw.
